Working with geospatial data can often be a complex process. When we set out to democratize access to geospatial data, one of the key things that we wanted to do was to simplify the end-to-end process involved in purchasing and analyzing geospatial data.
In that regard, we took a big step forward this month. We have revamped the console dashboard experience for our customers. When you log in, now you are greeted with a 'Getting started' list that lets you immediately focus on your specific jobs to be done:
- Purchase new imagery from the catalog
- Access and manage your purchased images in storage
- Process an image by creating a workflow
We wanted to make sure that our customers can easily set up jobs on UP42, without investing a lot of upfront time and effort. With preconfigured workflows, you and your team can hit the ground running.
We wanted to make sure that our customers could easily set up jobs on UP42 without investing a lot of upfront time and effort. With pre-configured workflows, you and your team can hit the ground running.
Preconfigured workflows let you bypass all the effort of reading product descriptions and documentation to set your parameters and ensure you have a workflow to test out that yields good results. Once you have added the images of your choice to your cart on Catalog Search, you can select any one of the prconfigured job templates to run a job in seconds. Currently, we have preconfigured workflows set up for the following use cases:
- NDVI Threshold and Vectorization Pléiades / SPOT (available)
- Infrastructure Change Detection Pléiades / SPOT (available)
- Aircraft Detection
- Car & Truck Detection
- Ship Identification
- Tree Detection and Height from Shadow
Click here to sign up and get started fast with preconfigured workflows!
Now, you can get up-to-date visibility into your ordering patterns and credit consumption directly from the dashboard now. This lets you make informed decisions about your data orders based on real-time insights.

When managing geospatial projects, it is easy to get lost in the weeds, especially when you are working with complex AOIs sourced from multiple data sets. We are focused on making our catalog search and purchase process as intuitive as possible for our customers. Introducing an in-app tour that will serve as a smart guide through the whole satellite data purchase process on the UP42 catalog! Give it a spin today and let us know what you think.
Give it a try here.
When you are dealing with workflows involving multiple images or any temporal analysis, misaligned imagery can severely impact the accuracy of your results. Co-registration solves this problem by calculating the translation, rotation, and scale variation between two images to ensure that they are spatially aligned. This pre-processing block is available for free on the UP42 marketplace and works on high resolution imagery like Pleiades and SPOT.
Check out the block here for yourself!
We have removed the minimum AOI limit that was set previously for Airbus Basemap (Streaming) block. Now you have additional flexibility to start using this block for the specific AOI size that you are looking for.
Try this block here and integrate it into your geospatial apps.
Now you can easily export a report of the credits you've consumed in account, separated by categories like data block, infrastructure, and tasked order. These credit usage reports give you structured, consolidated, and up-to-date information about your credit usage. Capturing both credit allocation entries and credit spend entries, now you are more empowered than ever to leverage UP42 for your future financial planning and decision making within your business.

Our first customer spotlight webinar was last month and it was a big hit. We had Sven Przywarra, the co-founder of LiveEO share their startup story. Sven also touched upon the key data challenges that LiveEO overcame with the help of UP42. Watch the full webinar here 👇.

This year, INTERGEO 2021 was a hybrid (online + in-person) geospatial conference held in Hannover, Germany this past September. A bunch of us from UP42 were at the event doing what we missed the most - having in-person interactions with the international geospatial community! GEOINT 2021 was also a big hit, held this year in St. Louis Missouri, enabling much of our US-based Business Development team to attend. More recently, several of our team members from the Berlin office attended the Geospatial World Forum (GWF) which came with high quality conversations, panels, and presentations.
Our Product people are at the heart of what makes UP42 so enjoyable for our customers, and so we are incredibly excited to have these three new members on our Product team. Shaashwat Bharadwaj is a Business Intelligence working student who is eager to learn new programming languages and we at UP42 are excited to help him achieve this goal. Diego Alarcón Diaz is a Customer Support Engineer with lots of GIS and geospatial expertise, and even now is finishing a Master degree in reference to remote sensing. Vasileios Toutziaris is another Customer Support Engineer with years of combined education and work experience in cartography and GIS. Having worked in both the private sector with folks like Planet, public sector and in higher education, he can offer a unique perspective to our team.
We couldn't be more grateful to have FOUR new Engineering members on our team. Tal Erez is a Frontend Engineer who's very experienced with Berlin's tech startup scene. Her ambition and openness will surely be an asset to our dynamic and creative Front-End team. Serhii Hulko is a Geospatial Python Engineer who comes to UP42 with a breadth of expertise in data visualization, processing, and analysis, which we know will be a great asset to our team. Ege Özbek is a Backend Engineer joining us from Istanbul, Turkey. His natural curiosity and his drive to learn new things make him a great addition to any team. Thomas Schindler is another Backend Engineer who has a depth of experience working as a Software Engineer in a map and navigation-related domain. His unique background gives him a holistic perspective on backend development from a geospatial point of view.
We're constantly expanding our team to bring new and amazing people, just like you, on board. Check out all of our open positions here!
That's it for now. But we have tons of exciting things in the works that we'll announce in the coming weeks and months, so keep your eyes peeled in Release Notes, or if you can wait a whole month, we'll meet you back here in November!
