Weather / Ocean Data and Forecasts - Map leverages the Meteomatics WMS (Web Map Service) to provide high quality weather data. All data is available worldwide and is based on the best numerical models, enhanced by downscaling methods and station calibration methodology. The weather data is provided as georeferenced images in a spatial resolution up to 90m in GeoTIFF format.

The Meteomatics API provides a vast variety of climate variables and options. By default, temperatures (Celsius, 2 m above ground), accumulated precipitation (millimeters, every 5 minutes), and instantaneous wind speed (100 m) are pre-set during Job Configuration for this block. The name can be added to the default variables list for a specific variable according to the Meteomatics documentation (see below).

In this WMS block, most of the weather parameters from Meteomatics are supported, including:

• Temperature
• Wind
• Precipitation
• Additional parameters from Standard Weather Parameters can be passed in the query.

This block requires bbox to define the AOI. All scenes will be returned that intersect with this box.

Pricing

The block price is independent of the number of requested weather parameters, but depends on the AOI size and time steps (default: 6 hours). The resolution is automatically chosen based on the AOI size.
